Billy D has been performing for over 35 years, as a singer, musician, and dancer. Besides singing, he is also a superb drummer, and his well-rounded muscianship extends to many other instruments as well, including sax, guitar, bass, piano, trombone, and concert bass.

He has also been a professional dancer and choreographer, and has performed with Anita Baker, the Cadillacs, and the Four Tops.

Billy D and the Rock-its was formed as a result of his lifelong passion for Doo Wop music and the 50’s era in general, and name of the group was inspired by his baby blue 1955 Oldsmobile Rocket Super 88.

The performing arts have been a central focus of Ana’s life since she was a child, and it all started with her father and his love of doo-wop music! When she was five years old, Ana and her dad recorded (in their living room) a 50’s style live radio show, “The Big Bopper and the Little Bopper” on a cassette tape, complete with bells, whistles and requests. Ana knows way more 50’s songs than anyone of her generation should, and grew up thinking that the music was contemporary because they didn’t listen to anything else!

Glenn Sadin has been writing, recording, and performing his own original music for over 40 years, and has released records and CDs in the USA, Japan, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Sweden. A seasoned guitarist, he has performed from Hollywood to Germany, and has shared the stage with the likes of rock’n’roll pioneer Bo Diddley, the Sun Rhythm Section (original 1950s Sun Records musicians), and garage rock legend Sky Saxon of the Seeds.

An avid record collector and vintage hi-fi & guitar enthusiast, Glenn places great emphasis on getting every period detail correct when playing 1950s music. His on-stage gear with Billy D and the Rock-its is mostly from the ’50s and early ’60s. In order to really nail the “correct” tone, he uses pure nickel strings on his guitars (“like they used back in the day”), and rejects modern digital signal processing, instead only using vintage vacuum tube amplification and analog effects. “Details matter!” he says, and we’re sure you will agree!

Tony Vento was born into a  family of musicians and singers. His father, mother, aunts and uncles were musicians and singers in the fabulous forties! Boston-born Tony moved to NYC to pursue a career in music. At the right time, he moved to LA where all his NYC training came to life. In short, he played the club and lounge scene for twenty years.

Eventually this led to his original songwriting with then-partner Bill Schneider. In addition to Bill’s piano playing, he was the head vocal arranger for superstar Bette Midler. Tony and Bill’s songs won a bit of notoriety on radio stations both locally and nationwide.

A visit to Las Vegas led to several years living there, where Tony worked the Strip. His first engagement was at the Vegas World Hotel entertaining the entertainers from many of the major hotels, where Sammy Davis Jr. often hosted these gala engagements. Meeting Sammy for Tony was and still is a keepsake memory. Tony and his band were featured at many of the hotels, but his favorite and most memorable engagement was the contract where he performed 28 shows at Caesar’s Palace, opening for headliners and playing in the hotel’s lavish lounges!

Brian has been yelling along with the radio for years and has sung in a number of bands.  He also can be found caroling around New England during the holidays.

Brian can’t really remember the details, but he is very grateful to Billy and the gang for letting him use his real voice in a group for once, and looks forward to an entertaining future with the Rock-its wherein he may learn to dance, kind of.

Educated at Berklee College of Music, with a deep knowledge of jazz saxophone, John has dedicated his career to music, as a performer, educator, and band director.

Mason Andruskiewicz has been tapping out rhythms and making instruments out of household objects since he was a kid. After getting a degree in engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, he rediscovered his love of music and began studying the great percussionists (Elvin Jones, Idris Muhammad and Steve Gadd, to name a few).

A few short years later, he found himself ingrained in the Boston music scene. He’s been fortunate enough to perform with some of the city’s most talented musicians, not to mention have opportunities to play in Chicago, New Orleans and New York.

Mason joined Billy D and the Rock-its in 2015, and has since fallen in love with Doo Wop.

When he’s not playing drums, he enjoys traveling, baking, and trying new foods. He’s always on the hunt for a good beer and a spicy meal!

Nick White grew up in post-war London, the son of a professional musician who was principal viola at the Royal Opera in London, and additionally as a session musician. Nick was torn between art and science – playing music, building amplifiers and working with early synthesizers. He initially chose music, teaching in a high school in England, but an opportunity to work in science and technology drew him away.

Fast forward to the 21st century – Nick has had a great career in science and technology, during which he immigrated to the US. Missing music, he took up bass, and was privileged to learn on-the-job, playing with musicians from the New Orleans diaspora in Massachusetts.

Nick loves most genres of music, but 50s rock and 60s Motown (plus the British invasion) are passions. He plays upright bass and electric bass guitar, as the music demands.

He still uses 1950s tube amps and home-built speakers at home. You might say that Nick is a Rock-it Scientist!
